Quip Electric Toothbrush Subscription Service Available In the UK & Other International Countries

‘Getquip’, an electric toothbrush delivered to your door, internationally

Quip is a fantastically popular electric toothbrush subscription service that has been taking the USA by storm.

For some time it was not possible to get it outside of the USA, but now it is.

So if you are in the UK or almost any other country outside of the USA, it is now possible to enjoy this same service, thanks to the addition of international shipping.

How does it work?

Quip is a subscription based service.

To get quip, you begin by purchasing one of the packages available that meets your requirements.

You pay a one of initial cost and agree to receiving every 3 months a refill package.

The contents and cost of that refill package is affected by the initial package you selected.

Both the initial package and refills are delivered direct to your door.

You don’t need to remember to get a new brush head, even toothpaste or brush battery, Quip remember all this for you.

And should you wish to cancel, you can do so at any point.

The electric toothbrush

Quip do offer a manual toothbrush, but the primary option is an electric toothbrush.  Unlike the majority of brushes we test here at Electric Teeth, this brush has a user replaceable battery.

Of course, we do have a full review of Quip available here.

Due to the cost and some could argue the actual need, Quip does not have all of the benefits and features of other electric toothbrushes. There are no pressure sensors, multiple cleaning modes and different brush head styles here.

The focus is on a simple yet effective electric toothbrush, which has the core features of an electric brush you would want.

The toothbrush is quite heavily promoted across social platforms and you will often see the tagline or hashtag ‘getquip’ used.  This is a bit of a play on Quip being the only brush you really need.

It looks stylish too. Slim and lightweight in hand the handle is made from precision CNC’d aluminium, bead blasted by machine and anodised to endure a lifetime of cleaning.

The electric motor vibrates at a 15,000 RPM to provide a thorough yet non-damaging cleaning action.

Every 30 seconds the motor pulses to help you evenly clean your teeth and gums and automatically turns off at 2 minutes to let you know when to stop.

Powered by a replaceable AAA battery, it will last the same amount of time as the brush head, 3 months. When replacing the brush head, you can simply slide out the battery and replace with a fully charged/ fresh one .

1,200 soft DuPont nylon bristles inserted into 34 tufts on the brush head gives a gentle clean.  There are no other brush head options.

Also included is a travel cover mount that not only protects the brush when travelling, acting as a travel case/cap over the top of the brush, but it also adhere to any glossy surface with firm pressure.  You then use it as a place to to keep your toothbrush neatly stored away from other surfaces and bacteria.

The rear of the cover contains a suction strip that acts like a suction cup to allow the cover to attach and detach to any clean dry glossy surface such as mirror, glass or tiling.

Catches?

There is only really 1 or 2 small catches to this.

The first is that the payment it taken in US dollars ($) so the exact price you pay will depend on your local currency, the exchange rate and your card issuer.

The other is that the international shipping costs $15 which is about £10-12. This takes on average about 15 days but there is a considerable more expensive express option at $40 which takes half the shipping time.

Refills shipped free

However the good news is the refill packs that come every 3 months ship for free, so you have to worry only about the currency conversions costs.

Given the lack of decent alternatives, this looks to be a worthwhile solution if you like the idea of a subscription based service like this.

Customs and international tracking

Quip do state that once the packages land on international soil, it is unfortunately impossible for their help team to track the package despite countries continuing to track our packages beyond landing.  They will also not refund initial shipping cost for lost or returned packages.

When it comes to local customs duties they will correctly state and pay for all customs information on our shipping forms, your quip may still be subject to customs charges that are outside of their control.  Quip cannot be held responsible or liable for any extra charges accrued by your local customs or postal service.

Refill plans under $15 USD are not subject to any customs charges as their value is too low. They would not recommend ordering a couples pack if international as the value of the refills are $20.  Their suggestion is to order two brushes separately to avoid a refill customs charge.

Excluded countries

Having had a look at the shipping destinations available on the Quip website, it looks as if shipping is offered to most major countries around the world, including many smaller territories.  The shipping destination list is always subject to change.  If you are in a small or outlying island you may experience difficulties in getting Quip, but this will likely be a situation you face with other products.
